The spring semester has begun and Regeneration: A Johnson City Story Slam is back for more of your stories! Our next slam is Friday, February 17 at 8:30 PM. We have a new location and more supportive folks in the owners of Buffalo St. Downtown Deli.
The ETSU Storytelling Division and the ETSU Tale Tellers would like to thank Dick Nelson for providing our community a warm environment for the StorySLAMs to take place over the last three years. Dick and his employees have been incredibly generous and easy to work with during our collaborations. Dick Nelson is revamping his business and no longer has space for the StorySLAMs. Though we were disappointed to hear that we would no longer be able to host the Slams at Nelson Fine Art Center, we are excited for new developments happening with the business and the building! In the meantime, when one door closes another one opens.
The new location for the Johnson City StorySLAMs will be with our new friends at Buffalo Street Deli just a few blocks from Nelson’s on Buffalo Street across from the Famer’s Market. After a fantastic visit to the Deli the first of the month, we are happy to now be able to offer food and other beverages before each Slam. Tim Swinhart and Krissy Knipfing are full of energy, kind, considerate and professionals of their art. The food was excellent and we believe the space will be easily transformed to a beautiful place to share personal stories.
This month’s StorySLAM will be held Friday, February 17 at Buffalo St. Downtown Deli, 109 Buffalo St. Johnson City, TN 37604. Sandwiches, salads, and appetizers will be served from 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm and the Slam will start promptly at 8:30pm. The event will run until 10 pm. This month’s theme is RESILIENCE. We encourage you to come listen, laugh, cry and perhaps share in the wonderful world of storytelling.
A $5 – $10 donation is requested at the door. To learn more please contact the ETSU Storytelling Division at Storytel@etsu.edu or 423-439-7606. Facebook Event Page.
