Just like the Phoenix rises from the ashes… Okay, well maybe it’s not that dramatic, but finding out that we are once again going to be able to take our dedicated readers along for new journeys, well, it’s just exciting! Appalachian Wanderers as well as The Nerd’s Corner are back and here to stay! Over the past few weeks, we received so many heartwarming emails and messages from fans of The Loafer telling us how much they enjoyed traveling along with us on our adventures and will miss our weekly columns. Our stories rekindled old memories with loved ones, sparked spur- of-the-moment escapades, and inspired many (including ourselves) to get out and explore everything East Tennessee and our surrounding region has to offer.
Fall is fast approaching, and we’ve got big plans for our favorite season! As the leaves on the Appalachian slopes erupt into a kaleidoscope of fiery colors, we’ll be venturing down new trails within the national forests and state parks that surround us. We’ve covered state parks across the Tennessee Valley region, and over the next year we want to show you even more of these wonderful treasures which stretch across our beautiful state from the Smokies to the Mississippi. Cedars of Lebanon, Fall Creek Falls, and Reelfoot Lake are just a few that deserve national attention for the natural treasures they protect. Our neighboring states have plenty to offer as well, so expect to see some other parks show up from the surrounding region like Virginia and North Carolina and maybe even Kentucky and West Virginia.
