Join us for the first annual Paws in Blue Fundraiser Event on Saturday, September 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Persimmon Ridge Park in Jonesborough. Enjoy swimming at Wetlands, food trucks, dog vendors, a K-9 competition and more throughout the day. This fundraiser is an effort to raise funds to help the Jonesborough Police Department obtain another Police K-9.
An opening ceremony will kick-off the event at 10 a.m. with the Presentation of Colors by the Daniel Boone Marine JROTC, National Anthem and Pledge of Allegiance. The K-9 Competition and Demonstration will start at 10:30 a.m. in the field at Persimmon Ridge Park and there will be representatives from area law enforcement agencies ready for their challenges. Also enjoy a K-9 demonstration showing off skills for tracking, apprehension, narcotics and article search.
Various dog related vendors will be on-hand offering treats, collars and even a dog washing station located next to the water park. Also enjoy food from Let’s Taco ‘Bout It, Auntie Ruth’s Doughnuts and more. The Wetlands Water Park will be offering swimming at the pool for a donation from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and it will be your last chance to swim for the season. We welcome leashed dogs at the event, but unfortunately, they will not be allowed inside Wetlands.
Also, be sure to stick around for the Doughnut Eating Contest at 1 p.m. with area public safety officers all ready to take a bite out of crime…or at least an Auntie Ruth’s Doughnut! A contest will also be held for those in attendance but space will be limited. For more info, visit Paws in Blue on Facebook or call Ruth Verhegge at 423.794.0237.
