With one point between first and second place, Jonesborough Senior Center’s team “The Olde Towners” was announced the winner for a third year in a row at the 2018 Tennessee Senior Brain Games State Championships. The competition, now in its sixth year, was held on October 17th at the McKinney Center in Jonesborough. Jonesborough Senior Center’s team “The Olde Towners” won two years in a row (2016 and 2017 champions) and was granted the privilege of hosting the Brain Games in Jonesborough this year. Jonesborough, representing Northeast Tennessee, had challengers representing West Tennessee (Chester County “Challengers”), Middle Tennessee (Smith County “Whipper Snappers”) and East Tennessee (South Knoxville Senior Center “SoKno Skolerz”). The jeopardy-style competition is four rounds of five questions with the last round being double the points, with questions ranging from history and sports to politics and math. After winning three times in a row “The Olde Towners” team gets to keep the trophy permanently, and the competition will start over in Nashville, Tennessee.
