What made you want to serve our country?
To protect the things we hold dear, Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.
What advice would you give someone looking to go into the military?
Join the Air Force. Just kidding, in all seriousness have an open mind, be humble, and be willing to be uncomfortable.
What’s your favorite quote?
“The Tree of Liberty must be refreshed from time to time by the blood of Patriots and Tyrants.” -Thomas Jefferson
Did you make any close friendships while in the service? Did you continue any of those relationships?
Oh of course.
What was the best and worst ‘military’ food you were served, and why?
The best I’d say is DFAC breakfast, can’t be beat. The worst is Asian beef strip MRE, absolutely horrible, and that’s saying something.
Tell me a funny story you experienced that could only happen in the military.
Well some stories wouldn’t be too appropriate, but some of the best moments are the ones that you can’t say in public.
Were you awarded any medals or citations? How did you get them?
Nothing too special, Just a couple Army Achievement Medals.
Where did you travel while in the service?
Haven’t deployed, so nowhere OCONUS, but I’ve been to South Carolina, California, Georgia, Virginia and Texas.
Why did you pick the service branch you joined?
Do you recall your first days in service?
Well, I’m known for always having a smile on my face and as you can imagine, that’s not a good trait to have in Basic. I was off the bus at reception for a total of 30 seconds and a Drill Sergeant was on my ass for smiling and then I realized that I was in for great time.
Was there something special you did for “good luck”?
Not really anything to be honest.
Is there anything you would like to add that we have not covered in this interview?
Best job I’ve ever had.
