Recently we were privileged to be able to sit down with Actor Ross Marquand and talk to him about his career and some recent roles. We have captured some of the interview below for our readers to also get to know a little more about Ross. He was happy to see that we had already posted an article about him and wanted to pose for a picture with him holding his copy of The Loafer!
Some of you may not know him by his real name, Ross Marquand, and are more familiar with his screen names of, Aaron on The Walking Dead or Redskull from Marvels Infinity War. We first met Aaron in season 5 of The Walking Dead and he has been with us since. His character there has been through a lot and building more each season. For all comic nerds (fans) and fans of Marvel, you may have recently caught Ross on the big screen in Marvel’s Infinity War as Redskull protecting the soul stone.
Ross is an amazing person to sit down and talk with and he shared so much with us about his life and career. We can’t put everything in our article, so here are a few highlights for you:
The Nerd’s Corner – Hi Ross, it’s nice to meet you and be able to talk to you in person. So tell us and our readers about your start with The Walking Dead and how did it feel to be able to join one of the most popular TV shows of all time?
Ross – It was absolutely beyond amazing because I was actually a huge fan of the show before I got on it and that very first Halloween episode in 2010 blew me away, so to go from being a fan and auditioning for the show three times before I actually got on it, was a massive honor and very, very exciting.
The Nerd’s Corner – Wow, so you auditioned for the show 3 times before you made the cut? That’s pretty cool that you were that determined to be on the show. What would you say was the one scene or episode on The Walking Dead that enjoyed doing more than any other?
Ross – Yeah, I never gave up on it. I just knew that I wanted to be on the show and kept trying. I think episode 709 was probably my favorite because that’s when I really got my first chance to work with Andy one on one, Andy brings this super enthusiasm and tense read on the character. I believe that on some days, Andy believes – full on believes, that he is Rick Grimes and it is so wonderful to act across him because he makes your job so much easier because he is so believable in that role and he doesn’t drop character all day so I think that, that one, was by far my favorite episode so far.
The Nerd’s Corner – So tell us a little bit about how you as a person relates to your character Aaron on The Walking Dead.
Ross – That’s a funny story because I think we have a lot in common. He is a guy who you know strives his best to be good and to be pragmatic and to be diplomatic, but you know sometimes of course his good nature gets in the way of what he needs to accomplish and he makes mistakes here and there but I think a the end of the day he’s a good guy and I’m glad that the fans have finally embraced him in these last few seasons because at first I think people really weren’t sure about who he was and what his intentions were.
The Nerd’s Corner – Okay, now Ross you recently surprised a lot of us with your Marvel Cinematic debut. If given the opportunity, how would you feel about returning to the Marvel Universe in the future?
Ross – I would jump at the opportunity so fast it would make your head spin! That was such a huge joy because I grew up with the Marvel Universe and it was, you know as a child I used to draw all of these characters and collect the comic books and comic cards, so to be able to play this part was just absolutely incredible!
The Nerd’s Corner – Okay Ross, we want to thank you for taking the time to meet with us and sit down and talk. It was amazing to hear your stories and we look forward to doing it again!
We hope you like reading some of what Ross had to say to us about his film career and be sure to come back and read more interviews that we will have with more celebrity guest throughout the year in, The Nerd’s Corner.
