The Women’s Fund of East Tennessee, in conjunction with Jonesborough’s Mary B. Martin Program for the Arts, is hosting its seventh Journeys of Women art exhibit. The exhibition is juried and will open to the public August 30 – September 7.
This juried show is a fundraising exhibition and shines a light on the incredible talent of regional artists and serves to support and share the mission of the Women’s Fund and its vision – every woman self-sustaining, womensfundetn.org.
Artwork will be for sale and prize money will be offered. Artists interested in participating can find information and submit entries at www.mckinneycenter.com.
WFET was established in 2011 by a group of caring women whose objective was to build an organization of women throughout 25 counties of East Tennessee who were willing to identify and support initiatives that would expand options for low-income women and girls specifically related to life skills, work skills, and education. Additionally. Today, WFET is focused on “access to education” as it is a key barrier to post-secondary education and advocates for legislative changes related to violence against women and girls.
Entries must be original works and not copied from copyrighted or published art or photographs. Qualified original work may include various media representing: Painting; mixed media; drawing; sculpture; ceramics; glass; textiles; printmaking; jewelry; silversmithing; and, fine needlework. Artists who submit entries must be 18 years of age. Both female and male artists are welcome. All entries must be completed within the last two years and not have been exhibited previously at the McKinney Center. The maximum allowed size is 50” x 50” in any direction including frame or stand. Weight is not to exceed 50 lbs. Two-dimensional works must be suitably prepared for hanging. Framed work must have screw eyes and wire. Textiles and other unframed works must be suitably prepared for hanging. Three-dimensional work must be suitable for hanging or setting on a pedestal.
There are no entry fees for this exhibition and sale.
