The Loafer’s Bartender of the Week is Niki Tauscher at Big Orange in Fall Branch, TN. She started working at Big Orange a little over three years ago. She worked for her dad for 18 years and was ready to try something new because she was tired of office work. When asked why she loves her job as a bartender, she answered that she is a people person and loves coming to work, because she gets to see all of her regulars and meet the new customers they are getting. Niki stated because of her great personality, her customers love coming in and seeing her smile which is equally rewarding for her.
Niki and her partner bought the bar in April and are so grateful for all the support from everyone. The bar only sells beer, so Niki retorted, “I guess that makes me a little boring. But we have the grill open at lunch, so the creativity is in the kitchen.” As for the history of the bar, the previous owners were ready to retire, and Niki did not want it to be sold to someone that would not love it as much as she does. Her goal for the bar is simple, “to keep the history and all the memories of the Big Orange alive and to make this place bigger and better.” She is hoping to achieve that by bringing in outside entertainment; Classic Productions hosts karaoke on Fridays and also holds the DJ nights at the bar. She also hosts a blind draw on Thursdays, along with specials all week long.
When asked what made her want to pursue this job, she stated, “I have no idea what made me decide to be a bartender, I just knew I wanted to keep this bar thriving so others can enjoy it as much as I have over the years.”
