Oakwood Forest Christian Church is pleased to host a Fun Fest celebration of Celtic culture and music. The Annora Flute Ensemble and current students of Martha A. Eganwill play Celtic music and Appalachian folk music influenced by the Irish and Scottish settlers to our region.
The flute and the Irish Pennywhistle have been part of the Celtic musical tradition for hundreds of years.
The soloists and ensemble players will perform a variety of music from the Celtic and Appalachian traditions as well as sacred music and more recent music in the Celtic style. The Annora Ensemble will play “Celtic Homage” an original composition by Evelyn Pursley-Kopitzke which was commissioned for the group by flutist/teacher Martha A. Egan. Players include Elena and Lily Gould, Taylor Herron, Faith Honoski, Rachael Jennings, Laken Mooney, Hannah Smith, and Sierra Stratton.
The concert is free and scheduled for Sunday, July 14 at 3 p.m. at Oakwood Forest Christian Church, 1713 E Sevier Ave., Kingsport, TN across from Greenacres Post Office.
