The 101st Season of the Street Dance Continues on Monday, July 29th, featuring Walt Puckett as Caller, Bobby and Blue Ridge Tradition and an Open Floor Dance Demonstration. Bobby and Blue Ridge Tradition will perform traditional and not-so-traditional bluegrass music. They not only play hits from bluegrass legends like Bill Monroe and Flatt & Scruggs, they arrange songs from such diverse artists as Hank Williams, Bob Dylan, Chuck Berry and the Newgrass Revival to fit their own inimitable style.
Put on your tap shoes and come down to the Street Dance for the Open Floor Dance Demonstration. There are so many talented cloggers in Western North Carolina, the Street Dance is inviting dancers to share their passion for clogging with the audience and offer basic demonstrations. Clogging is a unique part of Appalachian culture with its’ roots based in Ireland, Scotland, and England.
Bring a chair; admission is free. Enjoy mountain heritage music and dancing every Monday through August 12 from 7:00-9:00pm at the Visitors Center, 201 South Main Street in Downtown Hendersonville, NC. Audience seating area opens after 5:30pm; early admission is strictly prohibited. Please leave your pets comfortably at home, animals are prohibited in the event area. No alcoholic beverages, backpacks or coolers allowed. Before the dance starts, the caller, will teach interested audience members some basic square dancing steps so everyone can join in the dancing. The informal lessons begin at 6:30 p.m. In case of inclement weather, the dance will be postponed until 8:00pm; if the weather does not improve by 8:00pm the performance will be cancelled.
