Let’s just jump right in with 3 secrets to blast the belly fat fast without going to the gym!
- Get a handle on what you eat.
- Increase your water intake.
- Reduce stress.
Secret #1 to Blast the Belly Fat: Get a handle on what you eat.
- Eat clean food.
- Cut out sugar at a slow pace. For example, substitute white sugar for honey, water for soda and sweet tea, olive oil instead of sugary salad dressings.
- Increase your intake of super foods like oatmeal, blueberries, almonds, avocados.
- Be prepared with a plan in your car, pack your lunch, have a plan for dinner especially on busy evenings.
When I first started focusing on my health, I didn’t have a plan. I thought that if I bought healthy food, I would eat healthy food. But most of the time my veggies just died in the crisper of good intentions.
I would get too busy with work and running the boys to after-school activities. It was just easier to grab fast food on the go. Even if I knew there was good food ready to be prepared at home. I was just too tired.
I didn’t realize that I needed to form new habits in order to break the old habits, which had to start with a little bit of work on the front end.
Once I was able to take a few hours on the weekend to plan for the week by making healthy snacks easy to grab and go, create a plan for dinners especially on the busy nights, I could stop leaving healthy eating to chance.
I got the rest of the family onboard by creating a schedule where everyone could see it and had the kids help with the grocery shopping and meal prep.
Not to say that I didn’t get some complaints along the way, but once we started to create new habits, the family started to expect the healthier meals and snacks throughout the week.
Secret#2 To Blast the Belly Fat: Increase Your Water Intake
Soda, sweet tea and coffee loaded with sugar do not count in your daily water intake. Sugar is one of the BIGGEST culprits of belly fat.
You can reduce belly fat significantly by switching to drinking water. Even if you just start by switching out one drink a day.
Studies say that 75% of Americans are dehydrated so there’s a good chance you are too. You should be drinking half your body weight in ounces of water. So if you weigh 160 pounds then you should be drinking 80 ounces of water a day.
Start slow by increasing your water each day in 8 ounce increments, that will allow your bladder to adjust at a pace that’s more comfortable.
If you must, add some flavoring to your water but try to use natural foods. Lemons, cucumbers and fruit can add a little bit of flavor without the processed sugar.
Once I increased my water intake I had more energy, less headaches and felt less bloated after eating. I could even tell a difference in my skin, it was brighter and softer looking, I had less breakouts and don’t have to use lotion everyday. Its amazing what a natural resource can do for your overall health.
Secret #3 To Blast the Belly Fat: Reduce Stress
You might be wondering what stress has to do with belly fat. A LOT actually.
Many people are dealing with low levels of stress and don’t even realize it. Like a deadline due at work, your kid not doing well in school, or maybe you had an argument with your spouse.
You may have heard of a hormone called cortisol. This is the hormone that is released when we are stressed out. Studies show that increased cortisol in the system leads to fat accumulation.
People who tend to gain weight primarily around the belly, likely experience chronic low-level stress, as excess cortisol production has this strange effect of fattening up the belly.
We need to relax! Here are a few tips to reduce stress:
-Try a breathing technique called 5-5-7. Inhale for 5 seconds, hold that breath for 5 seconds and then breathe out for 7 seconds. 10 times should do the trick.
-Use your senses to bring yourself into a present state. Focus on what you hear, smell, see. This is especially effective when you’re outside in nature.
-Clear the clutter. Maybe it’s the clutter in your brain and you need to get it out on paper. Maybe it’s the clutter in your physical space (your room, desk or car) and you need to remove things that don’t serve a purpose for you anymore. Studies show that clutter causes stress so reduce it as much as possible.
Being able to wear whatever you want without worrying about how your tummy looks.
Feeling confident and comfortable naked.
Being able to look in the mirror and LOVE what you see.
