Singer, songwriter and electric guitarist, Aaron Jaxon has announced the upcoming release of his latest single, “Abriel.” The Johnson City, Tennessee resident, says the song will drop on August 7th and will be available on all major streaming services, including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and YouTube Music. “Abriel” is also available for pre-saves and pre-adds on streaming services offering the feature.
The song focuses on the subject of being and growing in a relationship while living a life of sobriety. Jaxon has long been open about his past battles with alcoholism and how those addictions have impacted his life and music career. He has since been sober for two years. The title of the song, “Abriel,” holds special meaning for Jaxon, as it is his girlfriend’s middle name.
“People really connected with the song when I played it live in the past, which always surprised me,” says Aaron. “I didn’t think a song about living sober would be relatable to very many people, but I was wrong.”
“Abriel” was recorded at The Sound Asylum in Johnson City. The track was self-produced by Jaxon with engineering duties overseen by Alex Ryan. Jaxon has a long history of collaborating with The Sound Asylum as the recording studio also helped to create Jaxon’s two EPs: The Aaron Jaxon Band in 2013 and Light on the Inside in 2015. Both EPs are available for streaming or purchase via Jaxon’s official website, www.aaronjaxon.com. Visitors to his website can also receive a free music download.
Like many music artists in the United States, Jaxon is discovering special challenges in getting new music out to fans during the current pandemic. Live music has traditionally been one of the most effective ways of introducing fans to new songs. Fortunately, Jaxon has been playing “Abriel” at shows dating back to 2017 but only recently decided to record it.
“I let way too much time pass since my last release, and I knew I wanted to record this song,” he explains. “I had also been through a few different lineup changes in the band over the years, and it always feels like starting from scratch again. The guys I’ve got now, though, are just amazing, and I wanted to get into the studio with them and make some music.”
